What is Holistic Fitness?

We all know the benefits exercise has on our mind, body, and soul.

But not many coaches go deep and utilize this relationship in every session.

When I first decided to work with one-on-one clients, I knew that there was a certain approach that I wanted to take, but I was unsure of what to call it. I chose to label my work “holistic fitness” because I believe it speaks to the way my strength programming is informed by not only my rehab perspective, but also my belief that injury, recovery, and true strength take much deeper work than just physical healing.

I use my background in sports rehab, my 15 years of experience with everyone from elite athletes to weekend warriors, and my training in Reiki, breathwork, and meditation to create truly holistic fitness programming for every client.

Some of the components of my holistic fitness programming include:

  • Exploring physical compensation patterns from past injuries, and discovering new movement patterns that serve better now.

  • Working through the impact that injury may have had on their identity, to allow for reconnection with their strongest, most capable self.

  • Learning movement patterns that immediately transfer to the demands of their life, and putting them into practice during daily activities in between sessions.

  • Building mobility, stability, and strength throughout the body, and gaining confidence in the knowledge that our bodies were made to move.

  • Training for pain-free movement in life and in sport so that they can participate in the activities they love.

  • Reestablishing trust in their body’s ability to perform.

My goal in approaching fitness from this perspective is to not only help my clients gain physical strength, but to help them reconnect to their body’s own internal, intuitive intelligence.
